Northeastern University is Hiring a Research Assistant Near Boston, MA

About the Opportunity Summary The Music, Imaging, and Neural Dynamics Lab (web.northeastern.edu/mindlab) at Northeastern University, Boston, MA, is looking to hire a full-time benefits-eligible research assistant to help with ongoing research projects. The Lab is part of the Center for Cognitive and Brain Health (https://web.northeastern.edu/cbhlab/) at Northeastern University’s Interdisciplinary Science and Engineering Complex, and provides an intellectually vibrant environment for researchers who study the science of music, and its effects on brain and cognitive health. The research assistant will be responsible for designing and administering research protocols, recruiting and scheduling participants, collecting and analyzing behavioral and neuroimaging data, and writing and presenting scientific research. Motivated candidates will be invited to be co-authors on manuscripts and to present research at conferences. Applicants should send: 1) a letter of application addressing the selection criteria and indicating how their background and expertise fit with the specific needs of the lab; 2) a curriculum vitae or resume; 3) a sample of academic writing, and 4) the names and contact information of 3-5 references. Qualifications • Bachelor’s Degree or beyond in Neuroscience, Psychology, Music, Computer Science, Statistics, and/or a related field • Interest in behavioral and neuroscience research and/or music perception and cognition • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills • Detail-oriented • Able to work well both independently on a self-directed basis and in a team • Strong quantitative skills • Prior human subjects and neuroimaging research experience preferred • Experience with Unix, Matlab, Max/MSP, Python preferred Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities 50% - Collect and analyze behavioral, physiological, and neuroimaging data. 20% - Develop recruitment protocols and recruit and schedule study participants. Correspond with study participants and answer questions throughout study. Be able to work flexible hours, including some evening and weekend hours. 20% - Manage daily operations of the project. Obtain and track financial incentives for study participants and order supplies and equipment. Supervise research assistants. 10% - Assist the Lab Director with other job related duties as assigned.
