JOB SUMMARY, DESCRIPTION & QUALIFICATIONS:

Job Summary

The Analyst, Student Information Systems manages and administers Workday Student Information System (SIS) for Student Services with the goal of fostering continuous improvement for end users, improved service to students, and creating operational efficiency for Student Services departments. This role is expected to maintain expertise in the SIS as well as Student Services functional areas including Admissions, Student Records, Registration, Financial Aid, and Academic Advising. The Functional Analyst will recommend new and promising practices, manage programming, setup, and ongoing testing for updates, running/coordinating processes, and quality assurance.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

The following duties are primarily performed and are essential for this position. Employees are expected to be able to perform each of these job duties satisfactorily and successfully with or without reasonable accommodation.

Data, Reporting & Technical Assistance:

  • Design, run, and analyze reports and dashboards of student data for Student Services teams and leadership.

  • Collaborate with various teams including Client Reporting and Institutional Research to address issues with data quality and consistency.

  • Validate data quality and reasonability of results prior to report delivery.

  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of SIS and appropriate integrations to assist Student Services teams with technical support for escalated inquiries and troubleshooting issues. Track and assess challenges, identify and recommend long-term solutions.

  • Assist in ensuring alignment with processes as well as federal, state, and local compliance and regulatory requirements.

System Maintenance/Upgrades, Training & Documentation:

  • Develop and maintain technical and end-user training documentation and job aides.

  • Analyze and perform testing of upgrades, fixes, integrations, and the navigation infrastructure of the Student Information System in relation to Student Services.

  • Prepare system test data.

  • Draft and communicate business case documents, specifications and flow charting for changes to business processes due to software requirements and updates.

  • Act as a liaison between Student Services teams and technical teams. Communicate changes, updates, and known issues to relevant staff. Provide training and support to end-users as needed.

  • Research, analyze and test potential updates to evaluate impact on existing business processes. If applicable, learn, implement and train others on new technologies and features.

  • Maintain knowledge of Student Services functional areas. Advise Student Services managers on new and innovative business solutions to improve efficiency and productivity of Student Information System usage by end users.

Minimum Qualifications Required

In limited circumstances, NTC may consider a combination of education, training, and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of this position.

Education: Associate's Degree (or Equivalent)

Experience:2 Years

Additional Experience Information:

  • 3-5 years experience in higher education preferred.

  • Knowledge of information systems, database table structures, Microsoft Office, and Microsoft Dynamics

  • Research, analytical, project management, critical thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to learn quickly and work in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to multitask, maintain an organized work environment, and be a team player and self-starter

  • Experience documenting business and system requirements, processes, and workflows

  • Experience with planning and execution of testing efforts including: development of test cases, coordination between technical and business resources, and documentation on testing results

Ability to perform complex operations in a variety of job-specific systems, understand functionality to apply advanced functions, manage/customize and create calculations with data.

Ability to actively listen, discern key information, and respond professionally; ask follow-up or clarifying questions to diffuse escalated situations and offer appropriate problem resolution when necessary.
