JOB SUMMARY: The Medical Assistant (MA) is responsible for managing phone calls and voicemails from patients seeking medical information or attention. Duties include addressing clinical inquiries, explaining and documenting laboratory results, processing prescription refills, clarifying procedures and treatments, initiating prior authorizations (PA), and scheduling appointments.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education and Experience:
High school diploma
Previous experience as a Medical Assistant in an office setting
Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) is advantageous
Familiarity with Greenway EMR preferred
Occasional travel between offices may be required

Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
PRIMARY DUTIES:
Answering phone calls and voicemails in a timely fashion
Addressing patient clinical questions
Evaluating new complaints via phone and triaging to emergent, urgent, or routine appointments with the support of the provider
Preparing and sending consultation letters with results or recommendations to referring physicians
Retrieving laboratory results not yet in the patient's records
Explaining laboratory and pathology results per providers instructions
Processing prescription refill requests
Initiating prior authorizations
Scheduling appointments and urgent visits as necessary
Room patients including obtaining vital signs, reviewing patient’s history, medications, and update patient’s history
Administer subcutaneous or intra-muscular injections and vaccines
Documenting all information into the computer system
Maintaining confidentiality of patient information
Adhering to policies and safety practices
Other duties as assigned
JOB TYPE: Full-time
Office hours: 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. Tardiness considered after 8:00 am.
