NORTH SUFFOLK COMMUNITY SERVICES INC is Hiring a Clinician - Substance Use Disorder Near Boston, MA

NSCS is looking for Substance Use Disorder Clinicians to join our team! The SUD Clinician is a staff person of the Chelsea, East Boston and Freedom Trail Outpatient Clinics. The Clinician oversees the development of the persons’ treatment plan and subsequent reviews and revisions to ensure the goals, objectives and interventions reflect the Clinical Formulation-Interpretive Summary and the prioritized assessed needs. Services are provided based on Recovery tenets and are aimed to promote overall health and well-being of persons served. The Clinician provides leadership and assists clinical supervision and guidance to direct care staff.

What You’ll Do:

  • Engage people and partner with them to improve their health and wellness, achieve symptom stabilization and self-management, develop and/or restore skills impacted by mental illness/substance use and live a self-directed life.
  • Assist people with psychiatric and substance use disorders to identify personal priorities, preferences, strengths, and interests in order to help them establish goals that support a life in recovery.
  • Instill hope by engaging in positive interactions that promote recovery and empowerment and advocate that persons need to make informed choices to further their own recovery.
  • Provide clinical services in timely and flexible ways that are consistent with the principles and practices of trauma informed care and person centered approaches.
  • Collaborate with persons to help them to write goals with specific action steps in order to develop effective treatment/rehabilitation recovery plans.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of Safety Plans and Crisis Prevention and Response Plans in order to help prevent and mitigate risk factors.
  • Demonstrate competency in the use of screening and assessment tools.
  • Be knowledgeable of and use evidence based practices including motivational interviewing, SBIRT, Harm Reduction, Stages of Change and Housing First and other relevant best practices.
  • Provide supervision, mentoring and modeling of evidence based practices with direct care staff.
  • Assist in provision of skill building interventions that help move a person on to the most independent setting or level of care.
  • Advocate for better access to public services and natural supports for persons in order to facilitate their recovery and full integration into the community.

What You’ll Need:

  • Education:
    • Masters degree in Social Work or Mental Health Counseling required.
  • Experience:
    • Previous experience in the provision of clinical or rehabilitative services to adults with chronic and persistent mental health issues and/or substance use disorders preferred.
  • Skills and Abilities:
    • Travel between sites required.
