Assistant Vice President of Strategic Employer Relations

Professional, Non-Unit Position

SALARY:Anticipated salary range $150,000.00 - $170,000.00. Actual salary is commensurate with experience and education. GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

In support of the strategic plan vision of consistently excellent and equitable student life outcomes, the Assistant Vice President of Strategic Employer Relations is responsible for strategic leadership and coordination of all partnerships with employers and workforce development programming. The Assistant Vice President serves as the college's single point of contact for all interaction with regional employers. The Assistant Vice President leads and manages the Strategic Employer Relations Division. The Assistant Vice President also coordinates and promotes interactions between credit academic programs and employers in collaboration with the Provost, Assistant Provost and Academic Deans. This role prioritizes, cultivates, and implements new relationships with employers. The Assistant Vice President plays a leadership role in the college's Non-Credit/Credit Alignment initiative. Finally, the Assistant Vice President develops resources to support workforce development and employer partnerships.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • In collaboration with the President and Community Relations Team, sets broad vision and strategy for workforce development and the college's relations and partnerships with employers.
  • Leads and manages the Strategic Employer Relations Division (which encompasses the former Corporate and Professional Education Division) to include development and implementation of annual goals, budget, educational programming, revenue planning, and strategy for workforce development and employer partnerships.
  • Serves as single point of contact and "front door" for employers working with the college.
  • Develops resources for workforce development and employer relations, including through grants and revenue generation.
  • In collaboration with the Provost and Student and Academic Success leadership team, oversees the college's Non-Credit/Credit alignment initiative.
  • Promotes, facilitates and integrates employer engagement with credit academic programs leading to Certificates and Associate Degrees in collaboration with the Provost, Assistant Provost, and Academic Deans.
  • In collaboration with the President, represents the college in chambers of commerce, regional economic development, and other employer-focused organizations on the North Shore.
  • Leads the college's engagement with civic and policy leaders to ensure appropriate response to workforce needs.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: President

SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Strategic Employer Relations Division employees (Corporate and Professional Education faculty, professional and classified staff).

Requirements:

  • At least 10 years of experience leading workforce development initiatives in the policy, education, or private sectors.
  • Master's Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Urban Planning or related disciplines.
  • Extensive experience working with employers, economic development organizations, educational institutions, and other stakeholders in developing strategies for filling workforce needs.
  • At least 10 years of experience managing teams, ideally in a collective bargaining context.
  • Experience with developing resources for workforce development and employer partnerships, including grants and public-private partnerships.
  • Experience executing change management and shifting organizational culture through vision development and consensus building.
  • Open and inclusive communication style; excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated emotional intelligence and ability to coordinate different offices, organizations, and people in service of common goals and strategies.
  • Demonstrated commitment to social justice, equity, inclusion and diversity, and the equity-centered mission and goals of all students and employees at the college.
  • Candidates will be required to pass a CORI/SORI and/or National background check as a condition of employment.
