IV.QUALIFICATIONS:1.A committed attitude and desire to be part of a dynamic team2.A passion for thinking outside the box and a desire to implement a creative and forward-thinking approach to helping students grow3.Enthusiasm for working with high school-aged youth and an understanding of their academic, social and emotional needs4.An appreciation for students struggling with issues related to substance use5.Flexibility6.A drive to differentiate instruction and develop and use a variety of assessments to gauge student learning7.Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree and Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Elementary & Secondary Education (DESE) Educator’s license.8.Dual-License in Special Education and/or experience in therapeutic support services favored.9.An understanding of boundaries and ethics in a small school environmentV.LENGTH OF POSITION:183 School days and available summer workVI.REPORTS TO:Independence Academy PrincipalVII.EVALUATION:Staff Evaluation will be implemented as outlined in the North River Collaborative Personnel Policies & Procedures Handbook.VIII.PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:1.Plan, and deliver instruction in according to the Recovery High School curricula, Massachusetts Curriculum Framework Standards and Common Core Standards.2.Develop curriculum that is unique to the Independence Academy model.3.Design and implement interdisciplinary project-based learning and thematic units with other members of the IA team.4.Co-teach effectively with other team members.5.Provide individual, small group, and whole class instruction6.Build out instructional units, projects and/or courses to meet the needs of the student population at IA7.Assist students in their commitment to Independence Academy’s 13 Domains of Adolescent Recovery Capital.8.Adhere to Recovery High School mission, policies and practices.To maintain a safe, supportive environment where students are empowered to engage in a process of change to improve their health and wellness, live a self-directed life and reach their full potential.9.Consistently implement instructional methods and develop materials that meet stated objectives and are appropriate for maturity and skill level of students.10.When appropriate, ensure that the goals and stated objectives in a student’s IEP are addressed and curricular is developed and implemented that is appropriate for student individual learning needs. 11.Collect, analyze and share data relative to student growth and development on a regular basis in order to inform instructional practice and programmatic changes.12.Coordinate with other specialists (e.g. counselors, nurse) to provide a comprehensive service delivery program for each child.13.Develop appropriate assessment strategies and assess accomplishments and progress of students on a regular basis.14.Initiate and participate in educational, vocational and recovery related field trips with appropriate supervision of all students.15.Work as a member of the Independence Academy staff in order to provide the most optimal experience for students academically, emotionally, and physically.IX.ETHICAL1.Maintain confidentiality of students at all times.2.Maintain professional attitude and productive relationship with other staff and administration.3.Maintain appropriate boundaries with students at all times.4.Treat parents and other professionals with respect.5.Preserve the rights of each student and family.X.OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED XI.COMPENSATIONIn accordance with North River Collaborative’s Contract
