Seafood processors perform a variety of manual labor tasks. Once the fishing fleet delivers seafood to our docks, our processing employees move the product through our production line until it is shipped in bulk to customers and cold storage facilities worldwide.

The work lasts from approximately mid/late - June to early/mid August. The season may be shorter or longer depending on the fishery.

Job duties may include, but are not limited to:

· offloading product from vessels

· sorting, butchering, cleaning, cutting, filleting, trimming, and boxing various seafood products

· inspecting product

· operating plant machinery, a forklift or pallet jack

· preparing packaging materials

· loading product, boxes, pallets, or carts of product into or out of freezers or refrigerated vans

· guiding product into automated machinery

· cleaning or sanitizing the work area

To preserve our food products at the peak of freshness, our plants operate 8am to Midnight. Employees may be asked to work up to 16 hrs per day, seven days a week. You are expected to work when there is fish on the premises. There are no scheduled days off. There may be several days or weeks of full production, and there may be several days with little or no production. There is no way to predict how much work will be available since this is a wild fishery, and it is important to understand that work hours are dependent on fish.

Lots of fish = Lots of work, No fish = No work

Wages and Benefits

New Processors: $17.15 / regular hour; $25.73 / overtime hour – Payroll is processed Bi-Weekly

In Alaska, employees are paid overtime after eight regular hours in a day, and after 40 regular hours in a week.

NPSI provides transportation from the nearest major airport to the work location and back if you complete the season.

Employees live on site in communal bunkhouses with shared facilities, rooms are assigned based on gender identity, bed linens are provided. The cookhouse prepares hearty and nutritious meals and snacks. The housekeeping staff cleans and sanitizes restrooms and common areas. Laundry is the employees responsibility but we provide washers/dryers and detergent free of charge.

With no onsite expenses, and hopefully a large fish run, this is often a great way to make money in a relatively short period of time. There are additional opportunities for pay such as referral bonuses.

We offer opportunities to grow: Both professionally and personally! We offer the possibility to move up within our company.

NPSI offers a generous employer matching 401(k) retirement plan and you are eligible to participate on day one! We also offer affordable, traditional health insurance benefits that include medical, dental, vision and prescription coverage.

Important Considerations

This work can be hard, monotonous, and boring. GCI cell phones are the only cell phones that work in the Togiak area. Traditional Cell carriers that work in major cities in AK and the lower 48 (ATT, T-Mobile and Verizon etc. ) will not work once you leave Anchorage to fly to the plant. There are no land lines or pay phones at the plant. Employees can use an office cell phone to make short calls. GCI SIM cards and cell phones are sold at the office as well as GCI cell plans. We provide free, limited access to a desktop computer to check email. We also have limited WiFi connection.

It is our policy to provide legal and fair treatment to all regarding recruitment, hiring, placement, promotion, termination, layoff, recall, transfer, leaves of absence, wages, hours, benefits, working conditions, training, and availability of advancement opportunities.
