QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor or Associate RN Degree

2 YEARS PREFERRED: Multi-specialty operating room experience including endoscopy and pain management.

BLS and ACLS Required

Responsibilities

• Supervises and directs patient care in an individual procedure room.
• Assesses patient needs, develops individual plan of care, and identifies outcomes.
• Ensures appropriate techniques and practices are used according to accepted standards of practice.
• Demonstrates appropriate knowledge of special needs for various age groups adolescent, adult and geriatric patients when providing care in the surgical suite.
• Assists surgeon(s), anesthesia personnel, and other O.R. staff as needed to ensure good patient care.
• Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of infection control practices.
• Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of sterile technique.
• Manages the care of patients receiving sedation or analgesic medications while undergoing invasive diagnostic or therapeutic procedures. Medication administration, patient monitoring, discharge instructions, family teaching and patient safety concerns are all nursing care critical elements of patients undergoing moderate sedation.
• Takes the initiative to participate in continuing education and/or in-services to build and expand scope of practice.
