North Iowa Area Community College is Hiring an Assistant to President Near Mason City, IA

Basic Function: Assist President and Board members; monitor Administrative Services Office staff/function; provide assistance to areas outside Administrative Services as requested; serve as a recorder for NIACC Board.
Salary/Benefits: Salary of $45,726.08 - 54,871.30 based on experience. Fringe benefits of Blue Cross/Blue Shield health insurance, eye care, dental, life and disability insurance. Retirement benefits as provided by Social Security and IPERS or TIAA.

Qualifications: Two years of specialized education beyond high school or a minimum of five years applicable work experience required with executive-level administrative experience preferred. Advanced keyboarding (60-80 wpm with high degree of accuracy), and functional operation of all Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint, Outlook). Knowledge and ability to work with databases to track information and extract data for reports. Advanced writing/editing/proofreading skills in creating correspondence and other materials. Excellent interpersonal skills; must be able to effectively work in a team setting, with the public, and with all levels of College personnel. Ability to perform diversified tasks effectively/efficiently with frequent interruptions. Must possess a high degree of confidentiality of personnel or issues/matters sensitive in nature and to exercise discretion in dealing with controversial or potentially sensitive topics. Professional skills to handle sensitive or difficult situations diplomatically. High level of initiative and ability to work independently with minimal supervision, exercising good judgment and decision-making ability exercising responsibility. Excellent organizational and analytical skills, assume general assignments independently following through to successful completion; accurately and productively manage details of complex projects and events; and manage calendars and schedules.

Responsibilities:

Provide administrative and clerical support to the President.
Coordinate and maintain calendar, including scheduling appointments, large group meetings, and follow-up.
Dissemination/processing of President's daily incoming mail, email, and phone calls.
Channel numerous daily phone calls and other messages to appropriate parties (including various sensitive matters).
Prepare various reports/surveys (lobbyist, Higher Learning Commission, Board assessments, President's evaluation, etc.), spreadsheets, charts, and PowerPoint presentations.
Assist with special arrangements for various events/meetings (Legislative Breakfast, Board activities, community groups, state/education groups, webinars, conference calls, etc.)
Generate and/or edit correspondence to donors, community members, outside organizations, etc.
Keep apprised of deaths, accidents, achievements, etc., and correspond appropriately.
Gather information/reports from the College database as needed regarding students, alumni, donors, and vendors.
Assist with special projects and/or research projects as assigned.
Work with Board members on a daily basis via phone, mail, and e-mail to answer questions, relay messages to President or others, solve problems and assist with various arrangements.
Coordinate and assist with development of NIACC Board meeting/retreat materials, correspondence, etc. Serve as recorder for the NIACC Board.
Assist with development of President's Council agendas and serve as recorder.
Coordinate travel arrangements for the President, Board of Directors, Administration, and College employees.
Reconcile credit card statement for President and College.
Prepare annual order for purchase of office supplies for Administrative Services.
Provide assistance to areas outside of Administrative Services. Assist other College divisions during times of staff shortages, emergencies, etc.
Provide campus-wide trouble-shooting assistance.
Serve as a resource/reference person, solve problems, listen, assist with various projects.
Perform in a manner which strengthens the coordination and cooperation of all organizational components of the College, including opportunities for student recruitment.
