Instructional Coach Job Description (Secondary)


Description:

The instructional coach is a certified teacher/instructional leadership position designed to assist in increasing student engagement. The role of the instructional coach is to build teacher capacity and understanding of instructional practices centered around the North Gibson Instructional Priorities Model, Indiana College and Career Readiness Standards, and Data Driven Instruction.


Job Summary:

1.) Support the instructional development of teachers in understanding and implementing the Instructional Priorities Model, Indiana College and Career Readiness Standards, quality assessments/feedback, and data analysis.

2.) Assist building leadership in non-evaluative walkthroughs focused on the Instructional Priorities Model.

3.) Develop instructional coaching cycles with building and district administration to provide support for classroom teachers using the data collected through non-evaluative walkthroughs.

4.) Build strong relationships with teachers, administrators, and other instructional coaches.

5.) Provide direction and coordination for how the curriculum is taught consistent with district initiatives and recognized best instructional practices.

6.) Participate in the district level and building level instructional leadership/school improvement team.

7.) Participate in and, when appropriate, help lead grade level/department teams during scheduled professional learning community/collaboration meetings.

8.) Develop, track, and communicate data with grade level/department teams to help establish instructional improvements and success.

9.) Assist building and district administration in the planning and delivery of professional development focused on instructional improvement.

10.) Attend professional development opportunities, as needed, to most effectively provide instructional coaching and support to district/school instructional staff.

11.) Complete instructional coaching logs to demonstrate and track support for classroom teachers.


Qualifications:

1.) Certified Teacher in a Secondary Education subject area

2.) Minimum of 5 years' experience teaching with a record of successfully impacting student achievement and working successfully with students who have the greatest needs.

3.) Proven ability to work cooperatively and effectively with colleagues, including the ability to create and nurture a professional community of adult learners.

4.) Demonstrate leadership qualities and strong interpersonal skills, including giving and receiving constructive feedback.

5.) Proven ability in using student-level data to guide instructional decisions.

6.) Demonstrated Teacher Leadership

7.) Models continual improvement, demonstrates lifelong learning, and applies new learning to help all students achieve.

8.) Demonstrated commitment and evidence of professional growth, including leadership and participation in a wide range of professional development activities.


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Have a valid Indiana state teaching license.
