ABOUT NGSC:

SUMMARY:

To assist in the oversight operations of the school by providing a well-organized, efficient learning environment in which students can take full advantage of the instructional and extra-curricular programs. This employment contract is for 215 days.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
(Other duties may be assigned)

Reports directly to the Principal, Assistant Superintendent and the Superintendent and is responsible for carrying out all tasks assigned by the Central Office.

These may include but are not limited to:

  • Advising the Central Office on all matters relating to the operation, direction, and control of the school.
  • Supervising and evaluating instructional and non-instructional staff. This includes conferences, corrective action, and necessary in service training.
  • Performing management functions assigned by the principal.
  • Fostering good public relations and effective communication with students, staff, parents, and others in the community.
  • Assisting in the selection of staff members.
  • Assisting in the maintenance of records and preparation of reports.
  • Ensuring that all Board Policies, Administrative Regulations, and bargaining unit agreements are properly observed.
  • Supervising and coordinating the counseling, health, attendance, and psychology services for students, including the maintenance and utilization of student records and the implementation of appropriate referral procedures.
  • Establishing procedures for maintaining appropriate liaison with colleges, universities, businesses, and organizations to assist students with employment and further educational training.
  • Handling discipline problems reported by teachers and other staff members; observing guidelines established by the corporation.
  • Establishing and maintaining systems to direct and control student movement, both within and outside of the school building, including vehicular traffic on school grounds.
  • Maintaining appropriate working relationships with law enforcement agencies and the welfare department.
  • Administering district-wide and local school-determined procedures governing student enrollment, attendance and withdrawal, including the maintenance of appropriate records and the dissemination of information to students and parents.
  • Developing, along with the principal, the master schedule of classes and coordinating its implementation, including the assignment of staff and utilization of space and equipment.
  • Coordinating the use of data processing.
  • Supervising after school activities.
  • Organizing and directing the summer school program.
  • Carrying out other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Three (3) or more years of combined teaching.
  • Have the ability to demonstrate critical thinking and problem solving skills.
  • Provide effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Have the ability to manage classroom and coordinate and instruct student activities.
  • Have the ability with or without accommodations to meet the physical demands of the position.


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in education or in the subject areas for which you are applying.
  • Master’s Degree, preferred.
  • Indiana Administration & Supervision Certificate.
