Position Statement

Coordinates surgical procedures for patients. Maintains the appointment reminder lists and notification to patients when these are due for elective procedures. Maintains a cooperative working relationship with other team personnel including the OR staff.

Key Responsibilities: (this should contain no more than 10 bullets)

• Prepares necessary surgical order forms, making sure that all vital information for the procedure is attached before distribution to Surgical Services.
• Coordinates with OR scheduler and patient to complete scheduling.
• Monitors prior authorization process of surgical procedures.
• Maintains the call back list and notifies patients by phone when they are due for procedures.
• Reviews surgical prep with patients and answers any questions they may have regarding the prep.
• Is responsible for getting necessary documents to the OR daily
• Schedules patients for clinic follow up appointments

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• High School Diploma
• Knowledge of insurance plans
• Medical terminology with skill preferred
• Computer experience required
• Ability to maintain confidentiality
• Essential is the ability to maintain a positive attitude while integrating and closing multiple tasks, meeting deadlines, and prioritizing as circumstances indicate or as requested by the Practice Manager. Individual must be ethical, honest, and responsible.
