Description of Job Duties Assistantships are a common pre-requisite for high-level administration opportunities. They are also common pre-requisites for management positions in athletics, higher education, or in businesses involving athletics including the collegiate, interscholastic, and youth levels.

For the Master of Arts in Higher Education Leadership student, this assistantship offers the GA opportunities to create solutions, discover new leadership ideas and skills, as well as to develop the ability to engage and motivate others. They will also work with multiple areas within Higher Education working with the interconnection of various departments on campus. The GA will gain experience in athletic facilities and event management working with different populations including but not limited to head and assistant coaches, general students and student-athletes, alumni, spectators and other professionals in various departments across campus. The GA will have opportunities to develop conflict resolution skills to achieve goals in professional settings with other coaches and administration/staff; develop and manage problem solving skills to be used in the daily work environment.
For the Master of Arts in Sports Leadership student, this assistantship offers the GA opportunities to create solutions, discover new leadership ideas and skills, as well as to develop the ability to engage and motivate others. For the MBA student, this assistantship offers the GA experiences in college athletics facility and event management that will help students to see the broader picture of higher education and how different issues impact practical considerations in intercollegiate athletics. Students will have hands on experiences in facility management, event management, leading student-athletes, as well as supervision and management of student employees. The GA will gain experience in relationship development including but not limited to coaches, staff and faculty, undergraduate students, alumni, and community leaders. Additional opportunities will include review and development of event management practices with the goal of providing an improved athletic event experience for both participant and spectators.

Job Qualifications - Accepted into a graduate program at North Central College.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, interpersonal, and analytical skills required.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Intermediate skills using MS Office Suite, including Word and Excel.
- Experience in college athletics strongly preferred.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record strongly preferred.
