Main Duties & Responsibilities

Job Summary: Finance department’s primary SOX compliance officer and audit respondent. A strong background in SOX and audit compliance is preferred. Performs the analysis, preparation and processing of financial operating data into meaningful reporting, ensuring completeness and accuracy. This task includes assembling, preparing and putting into prescribed form various Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll, as well as other business transactional data from various sources and in various states. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. This position will also serve as backup for the AR Accountant. Relies on experience and judgment to accomplish a variety of tasks both timely and accurately. Reports to the Accounting Manager.

Job Duties and Responsibilities include the following: other duties may be assigned:

• Prepare documentation and perform testing to support SOX compliance
• Maintain company SOX narratives
• Gather, assemble, and review documents per audit requested samples on a timely basis
• Preparation of accurate financial analytical data for reporting
• Prepare monthly sales/use tax returns
• Manage sales/use tax exemption certificate gathering and storing
• Manage fixed assets/depreciation/property tax queries
• Enter financial transactions into various computer-based applications
• Prepare and enter journal entries in support of month end process
• Perform all tasks necessary to backup AR Accountant including, but not limited to, invoice generation, cash receipts posting, reporting, and responding to queries regarding invoices or payments
• Prepare written professional correspondence.
• Organize and file of all documentation to properly maintain an orderly and accurate filing system.

Qualifications

Education and Work Experience: Bachelor's Degree in accounting or finance discipline. At least two years of experience in accounting; knowledge of manufacturing and material procurement or equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior experience filing sales/use tax returns and fixed assets is preferred. Working knowledge of accounting applications in a computerized environment, including personal computer and spread-sheet applications.
