• Processes, performs, and results all necessary testing for the Microbiology department during the evening shift.
• Reads and reports culture findings for most specimen types and performs workup per protocol
• Reports antimicrobial susceptibility testing according to CLSI and laboratory protocol
• Performs and documents all quality controls and preventative maintenance for all instrumentation
• Maintains competency assessments
• Ability to multi-task and work independently
• Assist in the preparation of CAP and Joint Commission inspections
• Reports to a Laboratory Manager or Supervisor
• Receives general supervision from Pathologists, Director, Lead Technologist and Medical Technologists
• Receives supervision in computer activities from the specialist, Lab Information Systems

Education

• Associate degree and Medical Lab Tech (MLT) certification with American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or equivalent. 
• Must meet the minimum requirements of the Clinical Laboratory Act of 1988.

Experience

• 2 years preferred

(Above requirements can be met by equivalent combination of education and experience)

Licensure/Certification

• Registered with ASCP (or eligible for registry) as a Medical Lab Tech or equivalent

Compensation/Benefits

• $19.56-$43.71/hr depending on previous work experience.
• Role qualifies for $2.50/hr evening shift and $3.00/hr weekend shift differentials
