Location: Vista, CA (On site) | Type: Full Time | Monthly Salary Range: $9,000-$12,000
Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Automotive Accounting Business Manager to oversee the financial operations within our automotive dealership. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in automotive accounting, dealership financial management, and a deep understanding of the automotive industry. As an Accounting Business Manager, you will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records, optimizing financial processes, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations.
Responsibilities:
Financial Management:
- Monitor and manage all aspects of the dealership's financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger activities.
- Develop and maintain financial reports, budgets, and forecasts to support informed decision-making by senior management.
Dealership Accounting:
- Oversee the recording and reconciliation of financial transactions, ensuring accuracy and adherence to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and industry standards.
- Manage the dealership's financial statements, trial balances, and other financial documents, collaborating with the accounting team as necessary.
Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities to streamline and enhance financial processes, utilizing technology and best practices to increase efficiency and accuracy.
- Implement internal controls to safeguard financial assets and prevent fraudulent activities.
Manufacturer Relationships:
- Work closely with manufacturer representatives to ensure compliance with accounting guidelines and programs specific to the automotive industry.
- Participate in manufacturer audits and reporting as required.
Taxation and Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local taxation regulations, overseeing the accurate and timely filing of tax returns and related documentation.
- Stay updated on changes in tax laws and industry regulations that could impact the dealership's financial practices.
Team Leadership and Development:
- Lead and manage the accounting team, providing guidance, training, and support to promote professional growth and performance excellence.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and address any issues or concerns.
Financial Analysis:
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, anomalies, and areas for improvement. Provide insights and recommendations to senior management for strategic decision-making.
Inventory Management:
- Collaborate with the sales and operations teams to monitor and manage vehicle inventory from a financial perspective, ensuring accurate valuation and cost tracking.
Relationship Building:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sales, service, and operations, to ensure alignment of financial goals and accurate reporting.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA designation is preferred.
- years of experience in automotive accounting, with a strong understanding of dealership financial operations.
- Proficiency in dealership management software (DMS) and accounting software. Knowledge of CDK Global's software is a plus.
- Thorough understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards in the automotive industry.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex financial data.
- Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with team members, senior management, and external partners.
- Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to accuracy and compliance.
- Knowledge of taxation regulations and their application to automotive dealerships.
