Norfolk Public School District is Hiring a Title I Instructional Coach-Secondary Near Norfolk, VA
Full-Time and Permanent; Exempt; 7.33 Hours/Day; 200 Days/Year; 10 Months/Year
Minimum Qualifications
Must possess and maintain the certification requirements as established by the Virginia Department of Education; this is a regular education position.
Possess five or more years of teaching experience, with a record of successfully impacting student achievement and working successfully with students who have the greatest needs.
Proven ability to work cooperatively and effectively with colleagues, including the ability to create and nurture a professional community of adult learners.
Demonstrate strong facilitation, communication (both oral and written), and strong interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated teacher leadership, including giving and receiving constructive feedback.
Demonstrate skills in using data to plan, instruct and assess.
Demonstrate skills in coaching strategies that improve teaching (i.e. in the moment coaching technique)
Demonstrate skills in using student work and performance data to make informed instructional decisions.
Demonstrate willingness and ability to model effective instructional practices.
Demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional growth.
Demonstrate problem solving and organizational skills required to effectively facilitate coaching strategies and staff development initiatives.
Maintain integrity of confidential information relating to students, families and staff.
Nature of Position
Support the instructional development of all teachers in understanding the Standards of Learning and related assessments, Instructional Framework and Pacing documents.
Ensure understanding and implementation of the school’s Instructional Focus.
Facilitate walkthroughs to determine the internal capacity of the school and identify priority areas to address.
Informally observe (non-evaluative) lessons and provide feedback for a teacher’s professional growth and students’ success.
Model use of cooperative learning structures to ensure positive interdependence, individual accountability, equal participation and simultaneous interaction.
This is a grant funded position and is dependent on available funds.
