What you can expect to work on…
You will work on both manual and CNC lathes and mills to create metal and plastic products to meet blueprints. You may also work on wire EDMs and do some welding and fabricating.

High level communication and interpersonal skills – you know how to develop & maintain strong relationships with others in the organization, especially designers, engineers, and other machinists. Understand your own communication and learning styles, assess other styles, and find the right path to connect the two. Exceptional technology skills – you find working with your hands and brains on physical machines to produce high quality products to be exciting.
What You Will Achieve…
The Machinist produces high-quality parts in a timely manner to meet blueprint requirements, Quality Standards, and other regulatory requirements. This position is part of a strong and growing team launching first of its kind products to accelerate the fight against cancer.
Essential functions
•Perform a full range of machinist assignments using independent judgement to make decisions requiring the application of procedures and practices to specific work situations.
•Apply mathematics to practical problems such as computing dimensions, laying out work, and setting up machine tools.
•Utilize knowledge of the machining qualities, properties and uses of various metals such as stainless steel, aluminum, copper, and steel, and plastics (including acrylic).
•Program and operate manual and CNC mills and lathes to produce parts to match print requirements.
•Utilize measurement equipment to verify machined parts are to print.
Competencies
•Equivalent combinations of education and experience that provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
•Mastercam or equivalent CAD/CAM software.
•Proficient use of micrometers, calipers, and height gauges.
•Bridgeport, manual lathe, and drill press.
•Familiar with Haas/Fanuc controls.
•Ability to write/read “G” code.
•Wire EDM experience a plus.
•Experience with metal forming / fabrication a plus.
Education and experience
•High School Diploma (or GED)
•10 years’ experience
Work Environment & Physical Demands
This job operates in a professional workshop environment. This role routinely uses manual and CNC equipment. The employee frequently is required to walk; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear. Ability to lift, carry and/or move up to 75 lbs., bend, twist, climb, reach, grip, walk, stand, site, crawl, kneel, and squat is required.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days of work are typically Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Occasional early or late hours or weekends may be needed.
Travel
Travel is quite rare for this position but may be required for training and/or trade shows.
