NICKLAUS CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL is Hiring a Supervisor Facility Operations (Full Time, Day shift) Near Miami, FL

Description
Job Summary:
Supervises and provides leadership and guidance to direct reports. Plans and directs daily assignments. Schedules emergency, corrective, and preventive maintenance work orders. Ensures equipment/systems are installed and maintained in accordance with manufacturers' guidelines, DNVGL directives, NFPA, building codes, city regulations, sound engineering practices, and other regulatory agencies. Supervises and administrates assigned service, maintenance, and/or construction contracts.
Minimum Job Requirements:
  • Technical school graduate, Associate in Science degree, or 5 years of supervisory experience in Facility Operations experience in a hospital setting is preferred.
  • Valid Driver's License may be required depending on job duties assigned.
  • 5 years of experience in general mechanic/construction trade with 3 years of supervisory experience
  • Journeyman license or master in one of the following trades Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing.
Qualifications
Job Specific Duties:
  •  Supervises and provides leadership and guidance to direct reports.
  •  Ensures equipment and systems are properly maintained and in optimal condition.
  •  Ensures quality standards are met when responding to work orders.
  •  Ensures work orders are properly maintained and completed in the work order system. Submits daily productivity report for the department line staff.
  •  Maintains and updates the technical library such as work order system testing records for all regulatory compliance agencies. 
  •  Maintains timely and accurate inventory of reorders, supplies, and spare parts to be ordered as needed, and notifies leader. 
  •  Meets quality standards by maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient environment and ensures shop areas and mechanical rooms are kept clean, safe, and in order. 
  •  Plans, supervises and tracks completion of emergency, corrective, and/or preventive maintenance.
  •  Schedules, assigns, monitors, and supervises work order request to staff. 
  •  Trains staff in the handling of hazardous materials, air borne exposure, isolation room, fire safety related operations, sound safety practices, department policies & protocols. Conducts EOC Rounds.
  •  Maintains compliance with DNV-GL standards and AHCA requirement on fire systems, equipment testing in assigned areas. Updates departmental compliance dashboards. 
  •  Monitors assigned area's financial activities and expenses by limiting or eliminating service PO to vendor and use in-house resources. Monitors and limits overtime expense. 
  •  Maintains and ensures execution and renewal of service contracts in areas assigned. Reviews and/or revises scope of work as needed.
  •  Ensures staff's compliance to timely completion of licensure, certifications, all competencies, health requirements and education requirements.
  •  Reviews, assesses, and approves if a request warrants outside vendor or in-house resources.
  •  Checks and confirms outside vendors work is up to standard work and complies with regulatory agencies having jurisdiction.
  •  Responsible for Food & Nutrition and Security department's equipment repairs to ensure budgetary allocation is maintained.
  •  Provides technical expertise in all facets of compliance with AHCA, DNV-GL, CMS and other applicable compliance agencies
  •  Analyzes work order data for trend and patterns; develops and implements strategies to improve processes.
  •  Participates in Pre-construction and Infection Control risk assessment review process and ensures completion of necessary action plan.
  •  Provides oversight of maintenance, testing, and inspection of the fire alarm and water based fire suppression system.
  •  Develops, implements, and monitors performance improvement plans to ensure compliance and addresses performance improvement opportunities.
  •  Acts as an active member of the Environment of Care Committee and completes any assigned tasks and/or opportunities.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  •  Mechanical Journeyman License, Plumbing Journeyman License, or Electrical Journeyman LevelLicense strongly preferred
  •  Experience working in a hospital environment facility operation strongly preferred
  •  Required to be on-call, to work weekends/holidays, and respond to emergencies when needed
  •  Able to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing in a clear, concise, and courteous manner
  •  Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, and able to learn work related software application(s)
  •  Able to follow written and verbal instructions to solve complex problems and file reports
  •  Able to interpret, adapt to, and react calmly under stressful conditions and varying demands
  •  Able to relate cooperatively and constructively with external customers, peers, physicians, hospital personnel, and subordinates
  •  Thorough knowledge in plant operations, equipment/systems such as plumbing, HVAC, mechanical, carpentry, etc.
  •  Able to establish necessary professional relationships and interact effectively with internal and external customers
  •  Able to motivate, coach, train, provide constructive feedback, and lead staff to ensure achievement of department’s goals
  •  Able to work in a fast paced environment and effectively manage and use resources to successfully meet the competing deadlines of a variety of tasks, problems, and projects
  •  Thorough knowledge of Life Safety, Emergency Management, Utility Management plans and processes, and applicable healthcare codes and standards
  •  Knowledge in Joint Commission or DNV-GL, CMS, AHCA, and behavioral health standards and requirements
  •  Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and ability to build an foster positive relationships
  •  Strong leadership skills
