Nichols Portland, LLC is Hiring a Diesetter Near Portland, ME
Essential Functions:
- Install and remove tooling from presses according to work instructions.
- Read work orders or blueprints to determine specified tolerances and sequences of operations for machine setup.
- Start machines to produce sample workpieces, and observe operations to detect machine malfunctions and to verify that machine setups conform to specifications.
- Examine completed setup and sample workpieces for defects.
- Confer with other workers about machine setups and operational specifications.
- Repair, maintain, and replace parts on dies and equipment.
- Troubleshoot set-up already in press when needed.
- Operate other equipment when Diesetter responsibilities are not needed.
- Maintain safety of tools and operators.
- Report to Supervisors and Engineering any worn and/or broken components.
- Complete paperwork and checklists properly and accurately.
- Perform preventive maintenance.
- Maintain housekeeping and safety in work area.
- Perform supervisor duties in the absence of the shift supervisor when required.
- Job requires being reliable, responsible, and dependable, and fulfilling obligations.
- Job requires a willingness to lead, take charge, and offer opinions and direction for the good of the company.
- Job requires being careful about detail and thorough in completing work tasks.
- Participate in 7S workplace organization activities.

Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Powder metal background preferred
- 12 - 24 months of diesetting in powder metal as a minimum
- Ability to work well with others
- Ability to recognize and analyze specific problems and produce answers that make sense.
- Ability to communicate information and ideas verbally and in writing so others will understand.
Job related demands (i.e. physical, travel):
- Requires ability to stand for periods of time while working on presses and furnaces.
- Requires ability to climb stairs and ladders.
- Requires ability to lift loads of up to 50lbs.
- Requires the ability of fine manipulation and grasping with hands.
- Requires the ability to perform repetitive motions with various limbs.
- Requires the ability to walk, climb, bend, squat, reach and kneel at various times throughout the work day.
- Requires the ability to read and interpret fine print.
