Licensed Vocational Nurse

Allergy & Asthma Medical Group of the Bay Area

For more than 43 years, Allergy & Asthma Medical Group of the Bay Area has provided top-tier medical care to patients across the Bay Area. We perform studies in asthma, HAE, OIT, and nasal polyps, to name a few. We are seeking someone who is detail-oriented, multi-tasking, and quick to learn. This individual will have the responsibility of managing multiple research studies under the guidance of a Principal Investigator, and must feel comfortable meeting a variety of timelines, as well as working independently with minimal supervision.

Duties and Responsibilities:

LVNs will work directly with our providers on allergen immunotherapy, immunizations, oral and respiratory medications, and patient education for patients with asthma, allergic and immunologic disorders.

  • Assists with administrative and clinical operations of the medical practice(s).
  • Assists with and, as necessary, performs administrative functions to include answering and handling telephone calls for patient care matters, chart preparation for clinical care and assisting with appointment scheduling.
  • Assists with administrative support activities as delegated.
  • Greet patients and contribute to patient assessment as needed.
  • Oversees and manages patient care flow, taking a leadership role within the suite.
  • Prepare patients for providers by reviewing current medications in the electronic health record (EHR) as needed.
  • Takes appropriate vital signs and record in EHR as needed.
  • Sets up exam room/procedure rooms appropriately based on patient visit needs.
  • Assist provider in examination/procedure rooms as needed.
  • Perform designated diagnostic tests as directed by the provider.
  • Draw and prepare designated lab work and/or specimens as directed by the provider.
  • Administer immunization, injections, oral or IV medications as directed by the provider.
  • Assist in follow-up scheduling needs.
  • Answer patient calls, questions and address problems in a timely fashion.
  • Assist two or more providers with clinical care.
  • Handles all designated clinical care telephone interactions with provider input.
  • Communicates all significant clinical findings to MD.
  • Serves as an advocate for patients and utilizes appropriate resources.
  • Acts as a role model in providing care; precepts new staff.
  • Provide orientation and training for new clinical staff.
  • Recommend areas of improvement.

Qualifications:

  • At least one to two years in providing excellent patient experience as a vocational nurse
  • Associate degree in any fields related to healthcare/medicine
  • Must be a licensed vocational nurse
  • EPIC experience is a plus
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively on a team and open with communication. 
  • Comfortable with technological requirements
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking
  • Medical and scientific knowledge
  • Being fully vaccinated booster shot against COVID-19 is a must
  • Able to work in Walnut, CA
  • Authorized to work in the US
