Nexus Engineering Group is Hiring a Trainee Project Controls Analyst Near Cleveland, OH

Purpose: The Trainee Project Controls Analyst is responsible for assisting the project controls team in collecting and analyzing project performance data and supporting the preparation of project reports. This entry-level position is designed to develop the trainee’s understanding of and skills in project controls, excluding direct involvement in planning and budgeting, with a focus on performance measurement, reporting, and continuous improvement practices.
Accountabilities:
  • Support the collection and preliminary analysis of project performance data under the guidance of senior project controls staff.
  • Assist in the development and dissemination of project performance reports.
  • Learn and adhere to company policies and project controls procedures, focusing on performance measurement and reporting.
  • Engage in professional development opportunities to build expertise in project controls methodologies, excluding planning and budgeting aspects.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Data Collection and Preliminary Analysis: Assist in gathering data related to project performance metrics such as schedule adherence, resource utilization, and quality benchmarks. Learn to perform basic analysis of this data to identify trends and issues.
  • Reporting Support: Help prepare project performance reports, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Develop skills in using project management and reporting tools for effective communication of project status and issues.
  • Continuous Improvement: Participate in the identification of opportunities to improve project reporting and performance measurement practices. Learn from the implementation of best practices and tools in project controls.
  • Training and Development: Actively participate in training sessions and seek mentorship to enhance understanding of project controls functions, with an emphasis on areas beyond planning and budgeting.
Experience and Expertise:
  • Interest in or recent graduation in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or a related field, with a focus on project management or controls.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office and an interest in mastering project management software tools.
  • Strong analytical skills and a keen interest in developing expertise in project performance measurement and reporting.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Key Relationships:
  • Project Controls Team: Learn from and support senior project controls staff, focusing on performance measurement and reporting.
  • Project Teams: Collaborate with project managers and teams to collect and report on project performance data.
  • Mentors and Trainers: Receive guidance and training from mentors, focusing on the development of project controls knowledge and skills, particularly in performance analysis and reporting.
