NEXTGEN LEADS is Hiring a DevOps Engineer Near San Diego, CA

PURPOSE 

The DevOps engineer will primarily work within our AWS cloud infrastructure, maintaining our Kubernetes cluster, configuring Docker containers, and ensuring our web applications are stable, secure, and scalable through the management of our IT infrastructure. Candidates that are local to San Diego, CA are preferred.

SUMMARY

The DevOps Engineer performs complex systems infrastructure and integration tasks including building and maintaining new development tools and a variety of environments and applications. A successful candidate has intermediate to advanced knowledge of linux systems as well as experience with service containerization and orchestration to support services at scale in a cloud environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Build and maintain new development tools and infrastructure
  • Maintain reliability and performance for all production services
  • Working with software developers and engineers to support new projects and services
  • Develop procedures for troubleshooting and maintenance
  • Keep infrastructure up to date with updates and fixes 
  • Monitor, Investigate and resolve production issues as they arise
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES)

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • Experience developing infrastructure in a cloud environment (AWS/Google/Azure)
  • Experience with developing infrastructure-as-code (Terraform/Ansible/CloudFormation
  • Experience with orchestration of containerized services (Kubernetes/Nomad)
  • Experience with service mesh technologies such as Istio
  • Experience with containerizing services (Docker/Podman)
  • Experience with microservices and engineering best practices
  • Experience with Python and Bash scripting
  • Experience with maintaining services in a linux environment
  • Proficient with relational databases (MySQL/Postgres/Similar)
  • Proficient with NoSQL databases (MongoDB/RethinkDB/Similar)
  • Proficient with languages such as Javascript/Typescript, Python, and/or PHP
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
