Position Summary

The Service Technician is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain self-bagging ice machines according to safety, predictive, and productive maintenance systems, and processes to support the achievement of the company’s business goals and objectives.

Reporting to the National Service Manager you play a key part in bringing that purpose to life. You do this by building high impact relationships with our customers, and ensuring our products, equipment, and services represent our brand each day.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Performing highly diversified duties to install and maintain self-bagging ice machines
  • Performing simple machinist duties and responsibilities
  • Performing mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting, and repair of production machines
  • Reading and interpreting equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service
  • Diagnosing problems, replacing or repairing parts, testing and making adjustments
  • Performing regular preventive maintenance on machines and equipment
  • Using a variety of hand and power tools, and material handling equipment in performing duties
  • Detecting faulty operations and defective material and reporting those and any unusual situations to proper supervision
  • Complying with safety regulations and maintaining clean and orderly work areas
  • Performing other work-related duties as assigned
  • Deliver our customer promise by performing maintenance and repairs with exceptional standards and care of the self-bagging ice machine
  • Responding to service calls in a timely matter and closing our service requirements with accuracy and precision; and being proactive in identifying opportunities to minimize machine downtime
  • Serve as a Next Gen Ice brand ambassador by nurturing quality relationships with existing and potential new customers, being knowledgeable about our products and services and providing exceptional customer service experiences
  • Create joy for customers and create excitement about who we are and what we do
  • Be the voice of the customer back to the company

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • High school diploma/GED preferred; or equivalent experience of (3) three to (5) five years with a sable work history
  • Previous experience in a customer facing role
  • Must possess a valid drivers’ license with a clean and acceptable driving record
  • Ability to frequently lift and/or move 10 pounds and periodically lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to travel as required to meet business needs
  • Work with heights of 10 feet or more via ladder
  • Must be highly motivated and able to work independently

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move heavier weight necessary at times. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and explosives. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. However, on some instances this job may require work in areas where ear protection is necessary.

Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
