The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining the facilities equipment and performing emergency maintenance as needed. This position requires the use of power tools and advanced machinery as well as the ability to travel between data center locations. Custodial duties may also be assigned as needed.
This is a permanent, full-time, onsite position in our Nexcess facility in Southfield, MI. The pay rate for the role is $15 - $18 USD hourly.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with miscellaneous custodial tasks as needed
• Complete equipment repairs and preventative maintenance, both scheduled and emergent
• Identify and diagnose problems/faulty equipment and take necessary steps to eliminate them
• Safely operate a variety of tools and equipment
• Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas, report any hazards
• Use cleaning chemicals in a safe and proper manual as directed by bottle labeling as well as MSDS
• Build, install, and maintain equipment
• Terminate and install cables of all types
• Operate forklift and man-lift
• Safely perform outdoor maintenance i.e. plow truck operation
• Keep clear and current documentation
• On call 24/7 in case of facility emergencies

Skills, Competencies, and Qualifications:

• Ability to follow directions and work well with minimal supervision
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Able to read and understand labels, directions, warnings, and safety notices
• Detail oriented
• Knowledge of safety best practices and the ability to operate within their purview
• Strong reasoning abilities, must be able to use good common sense to overcome issues
• Basic knowledge of both power and hand tools and ability to use them properly
• Intermediate computer knowledge, the ability to navigate our internal systems
• Ability to meet set deadlines for project completion
• Must have valid drivers license and clean driving record

• Experience operating plow truck
• Experience terminating cables
• Experience in a Data Center environment
