Job Title: Rough Point Greeter

Supervisor: Director of Engagement & Presidential Initiatives

Classification: Seasonal; part-time; non-exempt (hourly)

Anticipated Start: June 2024

Salary (per hour): $15.50 per hour and a 401(k) contribution (not a match), sick leave in accordance with Rhode Island Sick and Safe Leave Act,.

Overview:

Rough Point Greeters play an integral role in helping to make Rough Point Museum a welcoming, accessible, and engaging experience for members of the public with a variety of interests, backgrounds, and needs. They have strong interpersonal skills, adaptability, and enthusiasm for helping make Rough Point accessible to the public. They will help orient visitors and share information about visiting Rough Point. This is a part-time, seasonal position, and includes one weekend day.

Specific Responsibilities:

· Be the first and last point of contact for onsite visitors to Rough Point

· Provide excellent customer service and exceptional hospitality to ensure a welcoming visitor experience

· Orient visitors to the different experiences available at Rough Point—including an outdoor exhibition

· On high-traffic days, process free admission to the grounds and exhibition through the POS system

· Oversee the flow of pedestrian, bicycle, and vehicular traffic; assist visitors in parking.

· Communicate with frontline staff and security staff to ensure a successful visitor experience, daily operations, and is part of the site’s emergency action plan

· Share information about NRF, the Newport area, and heritage tourism

· Remain up-to-date with NRF’s initiatives, programs, policies, and procedures

· Other related duties as assigned by supervisor

Qualifications:

· Enthusiasm for working with the public, preferably in historic , tourism, or customer service roles

· Excellent communications skills; can communicate effectively with folks from a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences (museum visitors as well as colleagues)

· Fluency in English, other languages a plus

· Experience in operating point of sales systems

· A problem-solver; calm under pressure and challenging circumstances

· Must participate in all mandatory trainings – including self-evaluation assessments and evaluation by NRF administrative staff

· The greeter role is largely an outdoor role and involves walking and time spent standing

· Must the ability to work three days per week, including one weekend day.
