For additional information about GEM please visit us online at www.gemtechnologiesinc.com. To apply for this job, or others, please visit our careers page at http://careers.gemtechnologiesinc.com. Job DescriptionThis position will serve the Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) in Los Alamos, NM.Position Overview:Supporting operating organization personnel in the implementation of the LANL NCS Program Collaborating with operating organization personnel to author criticality safety evaluations for new or proposed changes to existing significant quantity fissionable material operations Conducting periodic reviews of fissionable material operations Leading and/or participating in NCS response to programmatic issues and criticality process deviations/infractions Participating in NCS emergency response preparation (emergency procedures, plans, exercises, and drills) Independently preparing and presenting NCS technical reports both internally to LANL and externally to the criticality safety community (e.g. American Nuclear Society, etc.) Assisting in the development and/or reviewing new or proposed changes to existing NCS programmatic policy and implementing documents Conducting NCS training for all levels of employees involved in fissionable material operations including Operations personnel and NCS personnel Conducting research, investigating alternative solutions, and recommending solutions on problems affecting NCS Duration:3-4 months QualificationsQ Clearance requiredBS or MS in nuclear engineering, nuclear physics, or related discipline Basic knowledgeable of and experience with nuclear physics in general, criticality physics, and accident kinetics, more specifically Basic knowledge of and experience with criticality safety analysis tools such as PARTISN, SCALE/KENO, COG, and/or MCNP Demonstrated technical writing skills and good oral communication skills Prior criticality safety or related experience (typically 1-6 years) Knowledge in the discipline of NCS, including NCS evaluations, program implementation, computation tools, standard, and regulatory guidelines Knowledge on the meaning and use of the ANSI/ANS 8 Series National Standards and applicable DOE Orders, Standards, and Guides Knowledge on the use of the common NCS computer codes and cross sections in terms of modeling and NCS analysis Demonstrated ability to conduct NCS evaluations on a variety of fissile/fissionable material forms. Demonstrated experience in conducting research, investigating alternative solutions, and recommending solutions on problems affecting NCS Ability to conceptualize and communicate major elements of NCS to both technical and non-technical personnelAdditional InformationGEM Technologies, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer*For consideration, applicants must apply through the GEM Technologies Careers Page at http://careers.gemtechnologiesinc.com
