The Team Leader represents and ensures the highest level of Visitor satisfaction, service, and experience on the Garden grounds. The team leader supports managers and attendants on duty.
Additionally, this position supports, through actions and conduct, NYBG’s Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility initiatives and helps to build and maintain an inclusive organization culture throughout the institution.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide visitors and attendants with accurate and real-time information
• Consistently uphold standards of excellence and make the visitor experience a top priority
• Be responsible for your designated sector. Provide sector with necessary supplies. Keep it clean, presentable, and operational
• Remain visible and approachable at all times in high visitation areas
• Perform current tram driver and/or attendant duties as required
• Work closely with managers to ensure the highest standards of service are achieved
• Liaise with the manager in charge to achieve resolutions to visitor mishaps and staff inquiries
• Be the point person for the managerial staff. Notify managers immediately as issues arise, such as broken equipment, mishaps in restrooms, erroneous signage, malfunctions, etc.
• Monitor breaks
• Participate fully in morning briefings
• Participate fully in required training sessions, programs, and lectures
• Be the point person for the managerial staff. Keep all managers informed
• Perform other duties as specified and needed by department management

Requirements:

• Extensive knowledge of New York Botanical Garden plant collections and geography.
• Willingness and ability to work in a variety of weather conditions and to be outdoors.
• Must be available to work weekends, weekdays, and holidays.
• Previous customer service experience desired.
• Must have excellent communications skills.
• Fluency in English required.
• Fluency in other languages a plus.
• Ability to move 25 lbs.

Hourly: $19/hr
