Responsibilities

As a Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer your role is pivotal in implementing, maintaining, and supporting cloud Infrastructure on Microsoft's Azure platform that serve internal projects in NYBC. You will report to the Director of Data Engineering. You should have experience in cloud-based infrastructure, automation, and deployments, as well as a strong understanding of storage, networking, security, and data management. Your hands-on expertise, combined with Agile/SCRUM methodologies, will ensure innovative and timely project deliveries. As a senior member of the team, you will work directly with BI, Software Engineering teams, data scientists, and other stakeholders to develop their areas of implementation by fulfilling Cloud infrastructure requirement strategies.

• Design, manage and monitor cloud Infrastructure to ensure high availability and performance.
• Work together with the data engineering team to fulfill their cloud infrastructure requirements while providing technical guidance and support.
• Collaborate with software engineering teams to define infrastructure requirements, provide advice on cloud best practices and recommend the right Cloud services for the solution/business applications.
• Ensure the security and compliance of cloud infrastructure by implementing best practices and industry standards.
• Conduct regular security assessments and respond to security incidents. Work closely with each team to ensure vulnerabilities are identified and remediated.
• Monitor resource usage, troubleshoot issues, and optimize resource utilization to achieve optimal cloud performance.
• Engineer technical solutions to prevent or reduce the frequency of failures.
• Manage infrastructure using azure automation with Powershell scripts.
• Designing and setup automated backup for critical applications/databases
• Analyze and implement cost optimization strategies on the Azure platform.
• Stay uptodate with the latest cloud technologies and trends, and continuously evaluate and adjust the cloud strategy as needed

Qualifications

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in information Technology or a computer related field.

Related Experience

• 15 years of total IT experience, of which 6 years should have been spent developing Azure cloud service solutions.
• Real-world experience designing and implementing a range of Microsoft Azure resources, such as virtual datacenters with vNETs, virtual network gateways, local network gateways, virtual machines, load balancers, security groups for networks, log analytics workspaces, recovery services vaults, Azure key vaults, Azure SQL databases, Azure SQL Data warehouse, Azure Data Factory, Azure App Services, and storage accounts.

Preferred Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in a computer related field or equivalent work experience in information technology.
• Experience: The ideal candidate should have experience in the Microsoft Azure technology.

Required Licenses / Certification

• Preferred certification: Microsoft Certified - Azure Solutions Architect Expert.
• Certification in Agile Methodology is a plus. Willing to attain certification, if not currently certified.

Knowledge:

• In-depth knowledge of Azure services across compute, storage, networking and databases.
• Hands-on experience with Azure Virtual Machines (VMs), Azure Functions, Azure App Services
• Expertise in Azure networking concepts, including Virtual Networks, Subnets, Azure Firewall, Azure Load Balancer, Azure Content Delivery Network (CDN) and VPN Gateway.
• Knowledge of Azure SQL Database, Data warehouse, and other database services.
• Good understanding of Intra ID, single sign-on (SSO) processes and the integration of applications with Microsoft Intra ID.
• Knowledge of various Azure storage options, such as Azure Blob Storage, Azure Table Storage, Azure Queue Storage, and Azure Files.
• Thorough understanding of Azure Security best practices and their application.
• Experience with Azure Monitor, Azure Log Analytics, and Azure Application Insights for monitoring and logging.
• Knowledge of Azure DevOps for continuous integration, continuous deployment (CI/CD), and source code management

For applicants who will perform this position in New York City or Westchester County, the proposed annual salary is $135,000.00 p/yr to $145,000.00 p/yr. For applicants who will perform this position outside of New York City or Westchester County, salary will reflect local market rates and be commensurate with the applicant’s skills, job-related knowledge, and experience.
