This position is responsible for conducting research work under supervision and collaboration and also includes maintaining the lab stocks, supplies, ordering and activities out

• Assist with research questions including design, experiments, collection of data, preparation of reagents and set-up, maintenance of equipment, and organizing the lab activities.
• Assists with purchasing lab supplies, stocking and equipment/maintenance and will train/orient new personnel on purchasing process and maintain IBC, IRB & IACUC protocols in place.
• Assists in mouse works.
• Performs research assays under direction.
• Performs data entry and maintains data files on research.
• Prepares tissue cultures, reagents, probe tests, etc.
• Carry out compliance including procedures and maintaining required documentation on laboratory and specimen conditions.
• Ensures lab is in sterile/aseptic conditions and equipment/plasmids/cells are properly functional/stored and maintained in accordance with manufacturers' guidelines.
• Assist with research questions including design, experiments, collection of data, preparation of reagents and set-up, maintenance of equipment, and organizing the lab activities.
• Prepare samples for testing using various laboratory equipment.
• Maintain all laboratory records including IBC, IRB & IACUC protocols.
• Comply with the correct procedures, policies, and health and safety regulations.
• Conduct and assist with laboratory tests, analyze results, and document your findings.
• Document all activities, results and report back to management.
• Clean and sterilize equipment and work area.
• Prepares and performs research assays, tissue cultures, reagents, probe tests, etc.
• Collect and prepare research and information needed for studies.
• Classify and label samples.
• Undertake basic administrative tasks such as filing and answering telephones.
• Performs laboratory experiments utilizing standard techniques and equipments.
• Collects project data, performs data entry and maintains data files on research.
• Provide for the care of laboratory animals in a humane, safe and sanitary manner.

This is a part- time weekday position only

Education:

High school graduate or GED

Experience:

Prior experience in basic biochemical or cell biology/clinical lab is preferred but not required.

Knowledge:

Understanding of basics of cell biology is preferred

Knowledge of a variety of software applications (Microsoft Office).

Skills & Abilities:

Strong attention to detail in all work processes.

This is critical for scientific progress and requires accurate documentation of the daily experiments/activities in computer records/lab note books.

Interpersonal communication- Able to communicate with other investigators, technicians, staff and completing the requests

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

For applicants who will perform this position in New York City or Westchester County, the proposed hourly salary is $18.00 p/hr to $22.00 p/hr. For applicants who will perform this position outside of New York City or Westchester County, salary will reflect local market rates and be commensurate with the applicants skills, job-related knowledge, and experience.
