The Medical Assistant provides clinical support to the physician and mid-level providers. The Medical Assistant provides instructions to patients as directed by the providers and is responsible for compliance with all OSHA/CLIA and HIPAA regulations, and ensuring completion of all duties vital to business operations. This opportunity is a highly visible position that is always responsible for creating a positive impression with patients, family members, and other visitors to the office. The Medical Assistant is a positive team player that promotes a culture of inclusion and participation.

Required Education and Experience

  • High School degree or equivalent
  • CMA or RMA certification 
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable operating transportation, and proof of current auto insurance

Preferred Education and Experience

  • 1 years’ experience in an outpatient medical office setting
  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree
  • Phlebotomy certification

Essential Functions

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Provide patient care by giving clear direction to the patient, address patient concerns about the session.
  • Ensure completion of all forms vital to the revenue cycle (i.e. verification/clarification of orders, waivers for non-covered services, encounter form)
  • Provide instructions to patient under direction of the provider
  • Ensure complete and accurate information in the patient chart
  • Clean and disinfect exam rooms
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, CLIA and HIPAA requirements
  • Assist with completion of patient requests
  • Manage referral process, outpatient test scheduling and precertification
  • Manage medication prior-authorizations
  • Interact with billing office as needed to resolve patient issues
  • Provide patient with good customer service
  • Document in chart and EHR the appropriate patient history and prepare patient for session
  • Conduct urine drug screens as required
  • Complete prior authorizations and obtain physical and lab exams as required
