Our growing company is in search for new talent for the role of Night Shift Feed Production Supervisor. 

Summary: Responsible for organizing the workforce for the daily manufacture and delivery of feed in an accurate, efficient, and safe manner and participate in the daily work effort.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Supports New Vision Co-op’s stated Vision, Mission, and Business Values.
  • Projects a positive attitude to customers and employees at all times.
  • Provides outstanding and courteous customer service.
  • Directs work effort of Worthington feed production employees.
  • Resolves routine production problems.
  • Operate feed batching system according to GMP, New Vision policies and procedures, and HAACP standards.
  • Manage feed load out according to GMP, New Vision policies and procedures, and HAACP standards.
  • Sequence feed manufacture according to manufacturers’ and HAACP protocol.
  • Schedule feed production to maximize mixer production, delivery fleet efficiency and customer priority.
  • Conduct routine machine maintenance, inspections and repairs. Report machinery repair or maintenance issues to Maintenance Technician and Feed Operations Manager. Assist Maintenance Technician when required.
  • Monitor equipment and remain vigilant to abnormal equipment operation (unusual noises, odors, or heat emissions).
  • Set corn grinder rolls for optimum micron size.
  • Operate bagging machine and notify supervisor when bag supplies are needed.
  • Receive and record all bulk ingredients according to FDA and New Vision Co-op Policy and place in the proper bin. Inform supervisor of any quality or quantity deviations.
  • Train Feed Production Technicians to operate feed ingredient receiving, manufacturing, and load-out equipment.
  • Monitor micro bin system inventory on a “keep full” basis. Drug inventory balance.
  • Select and weigh hand add ingredients to match the mixing schedule.
  • Housekeeping.
  • Complete all reports as required by Feed Operations Manager.
  • Reads and follows company employee policies.
  • Accept additional responsibilities as directed by the supervisor.

Communication Expectations

  • Notify supervisor of unsafe working conditions or equipment and ideas to improve safety or operating efficiency.
  • Notify supervisor of any HACCP standard or New Vision policy violations.
  • Notify supervisor of any deviations from manufacturing standards.
  • Communicate feed quality or quantity concerns with the Feed Operations Manager.
  • Communicate feed ingredient quality or quantity concerns with Feed Ingredients & Logistics.
  • Notify supervisor of breakdowns and major repair, remodel or new construction projects needed.
  • Communicate operation problems to supervisor.
  • Communicate customer suggestions or comments to supervisor.
  • Immediately report any work related injury, property damage or theft to supervisor or general manager.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises assigned employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with New Vision’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or H.S. Diploma/GED and 4 years experience in mash and pellet feed production and feed mill operations. 
  • Must have a proven ability to independently operate feed mill production equipment and verified proficiency in all advanced feed production and feed production job duties. 
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work as a team member. 
  • Must become an active participant on safety committee for at least 1 year within 3 years of assignment to this position.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. 
  • Possess the ability to communicate clearly with customers and co-workers.
  • Valid drivers license
  • Ability to obtain a First Class B boilers license within 5 years.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts: fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places: outside weather conditions: extreme cold: extreme heat and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
