New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival is Hiring a Logistics Administrator Near Orleans, LA

TIME FRAME: This is a short term, seasonal position.

March 25 to May 15, 2024

POSITION SUMMARY: Under the guidance of the Fair Operations Director and Assistant Fair Operations Director, the Logistics Manager is responsible for supervising and administering the planning, scheduling, budgeting, and overall coordination of logistical operations within the festival. This role involves direct supervision of the Logistics krewes to ensure the effective implementation of all logistics plans.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Directly supervise the Logistics krewes to ensure the efficient execution of all logistical plans.
  • Coordinate and oversee the work of the logistics teams in various areas, ensuring tasks are completed according to plan.

The duties encompassed by our logistics department include:

  • Oversee the reception, unloading, inventory, and stocking of storage boxes in assigned barn storage areas.
  • Inventory current stock and order necessary supplies, ensuring equipment is properly fueled and maintained.
  • Coordinate the ordering and installation of signage related to parking, safety, and traffic direction.
  • Confirm delivery dates of barricades and oversee their distribution, layout, and removal.
  • Receive and distribute Guardian Barriers, snow fencing, stanchions, flagging, and sand in various festival areas.
  • Assist with weather department needs during the event.
  • Assist in designing, layout, and management of the staff/volunteer shuttle lot.
  • Coordinate with City officials on the use of I-610 for staff shuttle parking.
  • Work with Access Coordinator/Assistant to mark Accessible parking spots.
  • Collaborate with Stage Department Director on sound check schedules and placement of Talent trucks, buses, and cars.
  • Assist in unloading and reloading buses on Kid’s Day.
  • Inspect, maintain, and make necessary adjustments to installations throughout the event.
  • Maintain certifications to operate heavy equipment and verify the same for logistics team members.
  • Strike all installations made by logistics, returning items to storage and assisting with inventory.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Keep a daily log of activities and schedule.
  • Report absenteeism accurately to the Festival Finance Office.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive issues.
  • Complete required Feedback Forms and Final Reports.
  • Attend and complete any required training.
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Team player with the ability to manage a diverse staff.
  • Experience in making physical installations of equipment such as barricades, barrels, etc.
  • Endurance for long hours in an active and stressful production setting, working outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Experience with event logistical installations, public safety, traffic flow, and parking operations is helpful.
  • Certification in the operation of heavy equipment is beneficial.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. and use basic construction tools such as a screw gun, hammer, and saw.
