New Opportunities Inc is Hiring a Fatherhood Coordinator Near Waterbury, CT

Description

Full-Time, Non-Union, Non-Exempt Position

$20.00 per hour, 40 hours per week

Monday through Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm

BASIC FUNCTION OF FATHERHOOD COORDINATOR:

To recruit fathers/non-custodial fathers and provide support to them in building healthy relationships with their families and achieving their goals for economic independence. Increase in awareness of how substance misuse impacts fathers and families. Partner with mental health and addiction service organizations to implement evidence-based prevention strategies that can benefit fathers and their families.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF FATHERHOOD COORDINATOR:

  • Engage in recruitment and outreach activities to engage fathers in the program
  • Outline program activities and enroll fathers into program
  • Maintain relationships with Early Childhood program to support recruitment efforts and engage with custodial parent
  • Implement a process which assists fathers in assessing their needs and strengths
  • Coordinate program services for which fathers may be eligible including mental health and additional services
  • Build and maintain caseload to meet funding requirements.
  • Facilitation of weekly workshops designed to strengthen the fathers relationships with their family
  • Weekly case conference meetings with participants and other providers working with the identified fathers to address barriers and monitor progress of agreed up on goals
  • Meet with program evaluator to discuss program outcomes and learning objectives
  • Support the empowerment of fathers to be their own advocates with educational institutions, social service agencies and the business community
  • Utilize program database to track customer progress and provide updated reports to Director of Fatherhood Program
  • In-town travel to court/community partners as needed
  • Weekly meetings with Director of Fatherhood program to discuss program activities and caseload
  • Coordinate with DMHAS for technical assistance through (TTASC) Training and technical assistance service center

Requirements

REQUIREMENTS OF FATHERHOOD COORDINATOR:

Education:

Associates Degree in Human Services or related field. Similar combination of education and experience may be considered.

Experience:

(Associate's) 2 to 4 years of social services and/or working with families to strengthen relationships and resolve conflicts. Experience working with individuals with substance misuse problems and related harmful behaviors a plus.

Job Skills:

  • Strong Written and Oral Communication skills
  • Conflict Resolution/Mediation
  • Strong Computer Skills including MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access
  • Knowledge of mental health and addiction service organizations including other social services available in the community
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish a plus

Licenses /certifications:

CT Drivers License and access to privately maintained vehicle
