New North Citizens' Council, Inc. is Hiring a Youth Gambling Prevention Coordinator Near Springfield, MA

SUMMARY: The Youth Gambling Prevention Coordinator will perform a variety of duties overseeing programmatic operations & activities, targeting youth ages 16-24 years old. They will also foster relationships between the young people, medical care community organizations, workforce readiness agencies, employers, behavioral health providers, and public health agencies with the end-goal of preventing problem gambling within the youth of Springfield.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Understand and apply principles, methods, procedures, and strategies utilized in the development

of a comprehensive program designed to empower and educate youth & young adults around problem gambling prevention.

  • Work collaboratively on law enforcement, health care and social service teams.
  • Responsible for the leadership in the program day to day operations
  • Insure the implementation of evidence-based services
  • Knowledgeable in computers and their programs i.e.: Windows, Excel, Internet usage, etc.
  • Conduct quality assurance reviews through pop-up site visits, file audits etc
  • Interact with collaborative partners
  • Build Partnerships
  • Recruit young people into the program
  • Write project reports, main electronic and hard copies of project files
  • Assist staff with conducting activities related to evaluation and present findings.
  • Participate in meetings, including individual/group clinical team meetings.
  • Must be able to travel to mandatory grantee meeting and intervention trainings.
  • Implement other projects, activities, or job duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This job has supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. At least two - 5 years’ experience working in human service field and have knowledge of community, social, health resources, computer skilled, documentation skills, and communication skills a must. Experience working with women, their families, professionals, and the community. Must be able to work with a diverse population. Must have a valid Massachusetts Driver's License

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s Degree and Certified Alcohol/Addiction Counselor preferred. Understand and apply principles, methods, procedures, and strategies utilized in the development of a comprehensive program designed to reduce and/or prevent problems associated with youth violence such as drug, alcohol, tobacco use, gang involvement, teen pregnancy, HIV/STI’s, mental illness and unintentional injury prevention. Work collaboratively on law enforcement, health care and social service teams.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) and Bi-Cultural preferred. Great communication and teamwork skills. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, parents and employees of organization.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

MENTAL/VISUAL DEMANDS:

Flow of work and character of duties involve normal mental and visual attention much or all of the time. Specific vision abilities required by this position includes close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Eye-hand coordination required less than 15% of the time.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms; stand; walk; climb or balance; stoop, and/or kneel.

The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Pay: $40,000.00 per hour
