Classification Summary :
Under direct supervision, provides administrative support to an Academic Department Head / Director or equivalent level supporting a department or group of professionals.
Compiles and analyzes basic information for inclusion in reports or presentation materials, prepares charts, graphs, or tables.
Receives and responds to routine correspondence following established procedures not requiring management review. Requires the ability to exercise independent judgment and employ basic reasoning skills.

Required Education, Experience, Certification / License, Equivalency
Required Education : High School diploma or GED certificate.; Required Experience : Three (3) years of experience related to the standard duties as outlined.
Equivalency : Completion of a post-secondary degree or certificate may substitute for years of experience.; Required Certification / License :
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to record and transcribe meeting minutes.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will support the department head, faculty and students of the department in day-to-day administrative and operational functions.
Basic duties include : Providing administrative support such as answering telephones, assisting visitors, and resolving and / or referring a range of administrative problems and inquiries;
Scheduling and coordinating occasional meetings and events for outside publics; Managing the departmental main office, such as monitoring the budget, creating financial reports, stocking office supplies, etc.
Working with university software programs in inventory, space survey, course management, scheduling, etc.; Supporting the department in the hiring process of adjuncts, graduate assistants, student workers, etc.
Attending, and taking notes for the department’s monthly meetings and performing miscellaneous job-related functions as they arise.
