Sierra Donor Services Eye Bank is seeking an Ocular Processing Technician to join our team! This position is instrumental ensuring donated corneas meet the requirements for corneal transplantation. The incumbent will evaluate ocular tissue and collaborate with the appropriate ocular physician offices to distribute corneas.
Below are some of the key accountabilities this position will hold:
Evaluates ocular tissue using slit lamp microscopy and specular biomicroscopy. Accurately documents tissue evaluation and processing data.
Assists with all ocular processing procedures and environmental monitoring which includes terminal cleaning of processing environments, circulating using a high level of proficiency with aseptic techniques and using good documentation practices.
Maintains supplies while ensuring integrity and sterility.
Performs cleaning, packaging, sterilizing and quality control of all ocular related instruments.
Aids ocular distribution. Ensures laboratory specimens include corresponding paperwork.
Performs other duties as assigned.
New employees must have their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine by their potential start date or be able to supply proof of vaccination.
The ideal candidate will have the following attributes:
High school diploma or equivalent
1 year laboratory/clinical experience required
