New Mexico Donor Services (NMDS) is looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic team member to join us to save lives!! Our mission at NMDS is to save lives through organ and tissue donation, and we want professionals on our team that will embrace this important work!! We are seeking a Referral Response Manager to be responsible for the day-to-day management and coordination of the OPO’s organ recovery activities. This role is critical to providing guidance as requested to Hospital Development and Public Relations/Education departments, assuming Administrator on call duties to guide staff through the various aspects of the organ donation process and ensuring that quality recovery practices are employed and that policies, procedures and local protocols are adhered to. Extensive on-call duties are required. Prior experience with organ donor management is required! This is a great opportunity to serve as a lifeline to those on the transplant waiting list!

For over four decades, DCI Donor Services has been a leader in working to end the transplant waiting list. Our unique approach to service allows for nationwide donation, transplantation, and distribution of organs and tissues while maintaining close ties to our local communities.

DCI Donor Services operates three organ procurement/tissue recovery organizations: New Mexico Donor Services, Sierra Donor Services, and Tennessee Donor Services. We also maximize the gift of life through the DCI Donor Services Tissue Bank and Tennessee Donor Services Eye Bank.

Key responsibilities this position will perform include:

  1. Provides on-call administrative services to meet the needs of referring hospitals, hospital personnel, physicians, donors and donor families. Fills the role as Clinical staff as necessary or as requested by the Executive Director due to high clinical activity or staffing shortages.
  2. Supervises the day-to-day activities of staff. Ensures adherence to standard operating policies and procedures. Ensures the timely provision of all potential donor evaluations, standard approach, obtains authorization, donor management guidelines, organ allocation and organ recovery services. Ensures that the call schedule is adequately covered at all times. Collaborates with Hospital Development Manager and staff on activities and meetings as requested.
  3. Participates in all leadership training opportunities and will implement all leadership principles into the Clinical Department. Leadership principles include recruitments, peer interviews, hiring, on boarding, monthly rounding, coaching and mentoring all staff. Will monitor clinical staff’s progress, encouraging growth and setting professional goals that are in line with the organizations strategic plan.
  4. Provide employee coaching and counseling as needed. Responsible for ensuring all clinical staff are trained and efficient in their primary job responsibilities. Will oversee all clinical department staff meetings and case reviews.
  5. Will participate in external (AOPO procurement directors council, UNOS regional meetings, others as appropriate) and internal committees to represent clinical services and the entire organization.
  6. Will interact with Medical Directors and Medical Advisory Committee related to policy/practice changes and review of donation opportunities as required by regulatory bodies.
  7. Perform other duties as assigned.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 5 years’ OPO clinical experience with at least 2 years being in a leadership or supervisory role required.
  • Bachelor’s degree and/or RN/PA/RT/Paramedic certification
  • Valid Driver’s License with ability to pass MVR underwriting requirements
  • CPTC certification preferred
  • **New employees must have their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine by their potential start date and be able to supply proof of vaccination.**
