New Mexico Cancer Center is Hiring a RO New Patient Chart Prep Near Albuquerque, NM

We are, a freestanding, physician-owned, comprehensive cancer center based in Albuquerque, NM with a satellite clinic in Gallup, New Mexico. We are an Oncology Medical Home, with a focus on early intervention for patient symptoms, resulting in low hospitalization rates. Our Physicians have won Top 10 Docs in the city of Albuquerque multiple times.

As a successful Medical oncology and Radiation oncology practice, we have expanded our medical practice to include Survivorship, palliative care, Primary Care, Rheumatology, Pulmonary, Urology and Sleep Center.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The RO New Patient Chart Prep reflects NMOHC’s philosophy and dedication to superior healthcare and physician assistance. This position must demonstrate sensitivity, professionalism and confidentiality while assisting physicians and in their communications with patients and outside vendors. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Primary Functions Statement(s):

  • Initiates contact with referring physician and associated physician offices via telephone to request records.
  • Faxes all requests with authorizations as required for requested records.
  • Reviews all medical reports received to ensure records are complete and ensures no missing documents.
  • Receives all records via scanned images, scanned paper records, CD, or patient hand delivered.
  • Maintains records and organizes them for NMCC providers as outlined in the diagnosis.
  • Scans all required records prior to new patient visit to NMCC.
  • Researches and obtains information for all new patients including but not limited to all required test results, correspondence, dictation, and outside records by contacting outside facilities.
  • Periodically checks for the receipt of requested information.
  • Prepares the new patient’s electronic medical record with information obtained by scanning all pertinent medical information obtained.
  • Responds to questions or requests for charts and missing test results.
  • Responds to “Tasks” assigned in EMR.
  • Documents all information in computer and new patient registry when applicable.
  • Assists the RO New Patient Coordinator with retrieving all medical record requests until they are obtained, appropriately scans documents (laboratory, radiology, pathology, pertinent progress note and history).
  • Assists in the retrieval process of all new patient records, including but not limited to transcription, hospital/D/C notes, Labs, Scans, Radiology Reports, X-Rays/Films, biopsy, and path reports, etc.; follows through with those requests to ensure chart preps have the records available for the patient’s initial visit to the facility.
  • Assists with scanning new patient information into OncoEMR.

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Education and Experience:

  • Professionalism and respectfulness must always be demonstrated.
  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
  • Medical Administrative Assistant Certificate (preferred)
  • Two years of medical office “clinical” experience (preferred)
  • Medical Assistance experience (preferred)
  • Must possess excellent time-management skills and be able to prioritize accordingly. Must be multi-task oriented and well organized, with an attention to detail in a fast-paced setting.

Computer Skills:

Intermediate computer skills, Microsoft Office, EMR and related software
