New Mexico Cancer Center is Hiring a Facilities Construction Coordinator Near Albuquerque, NM

We are, a freestanding, physician-owned, comprehensive cancer center based in Albuquerque, NM with a satellite clinic in Gallup, New Mexico. We are an Oncology Medical Home, with a focus on early intervention for patient symptoms, resulting in low hospitalization rates. Our Physicians have won Top 10 Docs in the city of Albuquerque multiple times.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Facilities Construction Coordinator fully understands major business components and implications relating to managing construction activities and consistently looks for ways to optimize space and reduce operating costs. This position assists in the operation and services of building systems for all NMCC facilities. This position is responsible for assisting the Facilities Engineering Director in designing and optimizing the facility's layout and critical operational systems and overseeing the maintenance of infrastructure and equipment. This position also manages people to help maintain the building and grounds, and coordinates with other departments so as not to interrupt patient care or regular business operations during construction. This position reinforces and adheres to the core values of the company in order to achieve the mission and vision.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Essential Functions Statement(s):

  • First to respond to fire and burglar alarms.
  • Prioritizes work to ensure building occupants’ needs are met in a timely manner.
  • Works with vendors and contractors and ensures that the work is performed properly.
  • Performs general office work including maintaining work logs, employee time, log books, and keeping inventories.
  • Supervises work performed by individuals performing shipping and receiving, janitorial, grounds and other maintenance duties.
  • Assists in maintenance of building floor plans and coordinates with Safety Officer to ensure fire safety and evacuation as well as compliance with OSHA and HHS regulations.
  • Make changes in the operation as necessary to best meet construction deadlines.
  • Implement management techniques that are cost-effective and efficient.
  • Collaborates with the Facilities Engineering Director on all construction/renovation projects for all facilities.
  • Visits with building occupants to ensure that their needs are met and solicits suggestions for improvements.
  • Monitors cooling and heating systems.
  • Prioritizes work orders.
  • Performs plumbing repairs on sinks, commodes, urinals, water fountains and water leaks.
  • Replaces electrical ballasts, switches and plugs.
  • Maintains the upkeep of the building in regard to walls and floors.
  • Performs minor building repairs and remodels.
  • Develops and maintains a preventive maintenance system for the building systems.
  • Coordinates internal office moves.
  • Executes furniture installations.
  • Assists in maintaining the building systems for safe and comfortable operation including building security and fire systems.
  • Assists in monitoring landscaping, inside plant services, building cleaning and security services.
  • Assists in supervising maintenance workers and prioritizes their work schedule.
  • Assists carpenters, electricians, and painters in remodeling NMCC buildings.
  • Performs other related tasks as requested.

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, building trades, or related field. Experience directly related to the job duties of this position will substitute for education on a year for year basis.
  • Eight or more years of progressively more responsible experience in building operations, life safety systems, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems.
  • Five or more years of supervisory experience.
  • Project management experience.
  • Budgeting experience and strong math skills.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Understanding of laws and regulations along with the willingness to keep up with changes.
  • Leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate ideas and information in written and oral format to administrative staff.
  • Problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Must have the ability to work well with all departments.

Computer Skills:

Basic computer skills, Microsoft Office Suite

Certificates & Licenses:

Valid New Mexico driver’s license
