    General Definition of Work
    The technology assistant must be proficient in using current technology resources in an educational environment. This position will provide assistance to the technology director, support for staff and students, and will have some responsibility for our district’s statewide testing program.
    Qualification Requirements

    Essential Functions
    • Troubleshoots and offers help-desk support on end-user devices.
    • Authorizes permissions and individual access to technology applications or services for the purpose of ensuring proper access to technology systems by staff, students, parents, and others consistent with district operating guidelines and regulations.
    • Maintains technology equipment and systems (e.g. servers, telephone systems, intercoms, alarms, surveillance cameras, software applications, network) for the purpose of ensuring that systems are functioning properly and effectively in support of district administrative and educational operations at the direction of the Technology Coordinator.
    • At the discretion of the Technology Coordinator, manage inventory and surplus of technology equipment, systems, and related services for the purpose of ensuring that all technology purchases for goods and/or services are consistent with the district’s technology objectives and with local, district and state regulations.
    • Assists in the responsibility for ensuring an effective, efficient, and safe environment, where technology equipment and applications are utilized appropriately and efficiently to support routine administrative and educational functions of the district.
    • Tests technology applications, tools, and programs for the purpose of assessing proposed products, programs, or tools to provide feedback for the administrative decision processes, to ensure the appropriate acquisition of educational and operational technology solutions and to assist others with these functions.
    • Performs Google administration duties to set up new accounts and other duties.
    • Utilizes practice to assist in maintaining cybersecurity for the school district.
    • Works with the State of Minnesota Testing software and infrastructure to ensure smooth statewide assessment completion in conjunction with the Technology Coordinator, building principals, and the District Assessment Coordinator.
    • Understand the importance of HIPPA and FERPA compliance and maintain other data private information.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
    Has an understanding of a wide variety of technology, such as Google, iOS, Android, Windows, Apple, and others. Possesses the ability to acclimate efficiently with unknown technology devices, tools, and programs. Has an ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students and staff. Also is able to perform these duties with awareness of all district requirements and/or policies.
    Education and Experience
    An associate’s degree or higher is preferred but not required. Experience in working with a variety of technology tools is a required component of this position.
    Physical Requirements
    This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 50 pounds of force; work regularly requires sitting, speaking or
    hearing and using hands to manipulate, handle or feel and frequently requires standing and walking; work requires close
    vision, distance vision, ability to adjust focus, depth perception, color perception, and peripheral vision; vocal
    communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to
    perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data;
    work has no exposure to environmental conditions; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business
    office, light traffic). Work does require the ability to climb ladders to replace equipment and complete other functions of the position.
    Special Requirements
    Valid driver's license.
    Reliable and consistent attendance.
    Compensation
    Rate of pay per Union Master Agreement
