NEW JERSEY TURNPIKE AUTHORITY is Hiring an Assistant Landscape Specialist Near Woodbridge, NJ
POSITION OBJECTIVE
This position assists in the administration of landscape projects and activities throughout Authority roadways and facilities. Monitors, provides reports and compiles data related to landscaping activities. Acts as an assistant to the Landscape Specialist participating in routine and special project assignments relating to roadside vegetation management, planting, turf management and landscaping.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Acts as assistant to the Landscape Specialist participating in landscape projects throughout the Authority.
- Possess a strong knowledge in plant identification.
- Assists with the selection, ordering and coordination of deliveries of materials used in landscape projects.
- Ability to read architectural and engineered drawings, specifications and diagrams.
- Ability to measure and perform mathematical computations.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Knowledge in the use of equipment, materials, methods, plantings, practices and procedures associated with landscaping and irrigation.
- Reviews cost estimates.
- Develops and assists in the implementation of landscape related training.
- Makes recommendations and conducts surveys.
- Assists in the review of landscape related requests and projects.
- Generates appropriate written reports and memorandums.
- Meets with outside agencies and municipalities as a representative of the Authority regarding landscape projects, neighbor requests and right of way concerns.
- Capable of responding to roadway emergencies, weather related events and/or any event which adversely affects the Maintenance Department and/or the Authority on a 24 hour basis.
- Perform other tasks and functions as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or GED. Associate’s degree in landscaping or related field desirable.
- Three to five years of administrative or supervisory experience in landscape or related field.
- Possess and maintain a current Commercial Pesticide Applicators License in Category 6.
- Must possess a valid NJ Driver’s License.
