GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Under the direction of a Program Manager, supervices technical laboratory work in the PHLS Specimen Receiving

Laboratory of New Jersey Department of Health Public Health and Environmental laboratories. Work may include the

handling and processing of laboratory specimens, specimen accessioning, specimen preparation, reagent preparation,

record keeping, supplies ordering, routine specimen analyses, and/or instrumentation calibration and maintenance.

REQUIREMENTS (EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / LICENSES)

EDUCATION: Successful completion of 60 semester hour credits from an accredited college or university which shall

have included 24 semester hour credits in the biological and/or physical sciences.

EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years of experience as a technician in a public health , hospital, clinic or research laboratory

performing various types of tests.

NOTE: Successful completion of a certificate program in Clinical Laboratory Technology may be substituted for the

above education.

NOTE: Applicants who do not posses the requir ed college or certificate in Clinical Laboratory Technology may

substitute two (2) additional years of experience.

LICENSE: Appointee will be required to possess a driver'S license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a

vehicle, rather than emplovee mobilitv, Is necessary to perform essential duties of the position.
