What You will Do:
- Assist patient and family with questions or concerns regarding care provided.
- Set up operatory for planned dental procedure and clean dental unit for timely turnover.
- Taking and updating digital radiographs
- Provide routine oral prophylactic care to include application of appropriate fluoride solutions.
- Provide gross debridement, scaling, and root planning procedures.
- Administer topical anesthetic agents and local anesthetic, as necessary.
- Explain hygiene procedures, indications, complications and expected outcomes to individual patient and caregiver.
- Prepare and provide education on periodontal disease, wellness, health maintenance, oral hygiene practices, parafunctional habits, and effect of illness, addictions, medications, and tobacco on the oral cavity.
- Chart findings, treatment plans, and treatment provided in patient records.
- Primary age groups treated will be under 20 and some adult.
- Clinic and outreach settings
What We are Looking For:
- Active Virginia license to practice dental hygiene.
- 2 years of experience in dental hygiene
- Experience in a community health setting preferred.
- Experience treating pediatric and geriatric patients.
