Job Summary and Responsibilities:
Quality Assurance Technologist will be responsible for performing or assisting in the following position functions but not limited to the following.
- Assist and support Quality Systems Manager in quality and food safety areas.
- Plant reporting of Food Safety and Quality Performance – Overall plant inspection to include the weekly GMP Audit and Safety Assessment, Daily GMP Inspections, Checking/Filing CQP paperwork, Metal Checks – verifying completion of checks and documentation, assist in monthly training, observe product quality, HACCP functions, and documentation daily and be prepared to take remedial action.
- Monitors, communicates, and follows thru on any product quality or food safety issue. Includes employee conformance.
- Able to comprehend GMP’s, Sanitation processes, product recall procedures and HACCP and develop & implement related policy.
- Daily monitoring of product quality – Floor inspection, cGMPs inspections, Raw materials and Finished Product inspections, Quality checks on coding of finished products, Product Moisture & PH, Calibrate Dipix/Eyepro, Sensory Scoring, Validation that customer specifications and regulatory demands are being met, Knowledgeable of product, Investigate customer complaints.
- Relay all Quality issues to department leads, supervisors and Management Team.
- Environmental testing – As needed and per Customer request, Environmental program, and Air Quality Program.
- Ingredient Receiving Inspection – Verify and audit Material Receiving Program checks for incoming products.
- Participate in any Customer or regulatory inspections – AIB, Customer Inspections, HACCP, FDA, and SQF Inspection
- Allergen control program – Ongoing, keep all paperwork up to date to monitor the Allergen Program.
- Responsibility for on hold product – Work with production to establish disposition of ingredient/makeup/product.
- Must possess good communication and record keeping skills –Communicate information from QSM with clear understanding of expectations and quality/food safety information.
- Other duties as requested – In the absence of the Quality Systems Manager, the Quality Technician, Compliance Manager, and the Product Compliance and Development Technologist will assume the duties as assigned.
Specific Responsibilities Relating to Food Safety, Legality and Quality
- Enforces all quality and food safety programs.
- Verifies documentation is correct and record keeping is compliant.
- Properly reads, comprehends, and completes required forms.
- Reports and takes necessary action to prevent food safety, legality, and quality problems from occurring.
- Follows and enforces programs and procedures outlined in the Food Safety and Quality Manual to support compliance with the GFSI Standard and other third-party audits.
- Good organizational and communication skills.
- Comfortable using Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.
- Attention to detail.
- Problem- solving abilities.
Abilities Required
Have the ability to perform all jobs in Muffin and/or Bun make-up.
Able to lift 50 pounds. Able to stand for 8 hours a day. Able to communicate with other employees. Able to follow written and verbal instructions in a timely manner.
