Instructional Assistant

New Hope’s Education Department has an immediate opening for a teaching assistant. These positions are not New Hope positions and do not come with New Hope benefits. These positions are grant-funded and hired through Kelly Services. Individuals will be required to work both one-on-one and with small student groupings to administer benchmark and progress monitoring assessments and create reports that track student progress and growth. The teaching assistants will use data to determine the direct instruction intervention programs and teaching methods that will best meet student needs, including how to most effectively group students and use instructional materials. These positions will also lead intervention groups within the classroom and communicate with classroom teachers to provide student data on academic skill mastery.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Administering benchmark assessments to determine student strengths and needs with regard to placement in intervention programs
• Administering progress monitoring assessments to determine student growth
• Documentation of student progress including progress monitoring data and running records
• Selection of direct instruction intervention programs, direct instruction teaching methods, and instructional materials based on student needs as indicated by reports from classroom teachers and assessment data
• Implementation of direct instruction intervention programs to include student groupings and material management
• Conduct intervention groups within the classroom in a manner consistent with effective classroom management practices
• Frequent communication with teachers to include brief reports on student growth, behavior, and assessment data

Required Qualifications:

• High School Diploma
• Professional verbal and written communication skills
• Tutoring experience or experience in a school and/or behavioral health setting
• Proficient in high school Math and English/Language Arts
