New Haven Public Schools is Hiring a High school teacher Near New Haven, CT

High School Summer School -Assistant Teacher / Para Professional

The following job duties and responsibilities are essential functions of the NHPS summer school Assistant Teacher / Paraprofessional position, in addition to any duties as may be assigned by the building lead or program director for the duration of the program :

  • Assist teachers to implement the NHPS Summer Program
  • Provides 1-1 and small group pull out support for students who are struggling with coursework.
  • Pushes into classrooms to support instruction and classroom climate in classrooms
  • Provides emergency classroom coverage
  • Small groups or individual instruction and discussions, and reviewing classwork.
  • Assist teachers and students with transitions, such as lunch in the cafeteria and any time requiring students to leave the classroom.
  • Assist the teacher in documenting student progress.
  • Experience with technology to assist teachers and students.
  • Collaborative communication and interpersonal skills
  • Requirements : Associate Degree or 60 college credits or receive a qualifying score on the ParaPro Assessment, or existing NHPS Assistant Teacher
  • Compensation : $15.69 per hour
