New England Joint Board UNITE HERE is Hiring an Office Admin/Benefits Near Boston, MA

The New England Joint Board, UNITE HERE, is an affiliate of UNITE HERE in the six New England states and New York, representing workers in the manufacturing, warehousing, laundry, food service, disability service, textile, and garment industries. Included in our membership are workers from UNITE HERE predecessor unions ILGWU, ACTWU and UNITE as well as members originally organized under the UNITE HERE banner. We are a bold progressive union at the forefront of the movement for economic and social justice. Women and immigrants make up a majority of our membership.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate daily benefits administration for medical, dental, vision, pension, and disability including: new enrollments, terminations, changes, beneficiaries, pension applications, disability claims, and death benefits.
  • Assist members with individual benefits-related issues and questions.
  • Educate members on benefit plan designs and eligibility requirements.
  • Process, file, and ensure the accuracy of new enrollments, terminations, and pension applications.
  • Conduct computer data entry.
  • Handle incoming phone calls and general member communications.
  • Interface with members, employers, union staff, fund staff, and benefit plan staff to resolve issues.

Qualifications:

  • Individual should be highly organized and detail-oriented.
  • Individual should be responsible, self-motivated, dependable, and able to multitask.
  • Spanish fluency preferred (Other languages accepted).
  • Ability to communicate with empathy, compassion, and professionalism.
  • Computer literacy required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications especially Excel and Word.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Minimum of two years relevant work experience.
  • Interest in the labor movement, worker rights, and social justice work.
