New England College is Hiring an Assistant Athletic Trainer for Football Near Henniker, NH

This position effectively assists the Head Athletic Trainer in organizing and managing all phases of the athletic training department, which includes athletic training coverage for football games and practices, administrative duties, and ensuring that the program operates within the spirit and intent of NCAA and league/ conference rules and regulations. This is a 9-month position.
Essential Duties Summary
  • Provide practice and game coverage for all football related athletic activities. This includes, but is not limited to: emergency first aid treatment, evaluating, advising, and treating athletes before, during, and after varsity competitions or practices, and communicating with opponents’ athletic trainers as necessary;
  • Facilitate the prevention, evaluation and rehabilitation of athletic injuries. Coordinate various educational programming, including in areas of drug and alcohol abuse, weight management and eating disorders, and use of supplements;
  • Assist the Head Athletic Trainer in planning and organizing the operation of the athletic training department, including setting hours of operation, maintaining athletic training equipment, and ensuring that the needs of the student-athletes are served;
  • Serve as liaison between injured student-athletes and various constituencies. Communicate the medical status and rehabilitation status of student-athletes to head coaches through use of daily treatment reports. Work with various members of the medical field, including student-athletes’ personal doctors, NEC’s physician and Health Center, and any other involved parties to ensure athletes receive the necessary treatment for injuries;
  • Serve as active member of the department and NEC community. Initiate and participate in various community service activities; attend department meetings; actively pursue opportunities to serve NEC in areas outside the athletic department; develop and implement department public relations in conjunction with the sports information director.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in athletic training or related discipline, Master’s degree is preferred
  • Must be certified by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association and the State of New Hampshire.
