Nevada Regional Medical Center is Hiring a Patient Sitter Near Nevada, MO

Essential Functions:

  • Actively engages with patients providing introduction of self and others involved in patient’s care. Communicates effectively with other staff and family.
  • Position themselves in their assigned patient’s room to maintain constant visual observation of them.
  • Positively impacts the patient experience at Nevada Regional Medical Center through enhanced clear, respectful, and effective communication skills.
  • Assures that the patient is never alone or out of sight unless instructed otherwise by the nurse.
  • Assists nursing staff with duties, within scope of practice, in providing essential patient cares as assigned.

Skills Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with all levels.
  • Ability to listen to patient concerns about how they are feeling, or if their symptoms are worsening. Ability to relay them to the appropriate nurse so that further action can be taken if necessary.
  • Ability to perform simple mathematical equations.
  • Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain patient environments in such a way as to provide comfort for the patients they are responsible for.
  • Maintain a safe room that is clean and meets the regulations set by the facility.
  • Maintain notes of patient condition, records must be accurate and legible of any untoward events such as violent behavior or behavioral changes so these can be added to data records.
  • Other skills: Patience, Physical Stamina, Positive Attitude, and Time management skills.

Working Conditions:

  • Possible exposure to inside environmental conditions.
  • Exposure to distressed patients, families or visitors.

Physical Demands:

  • Requires standing, sitting or walking for up to12 hours or longer per day.
  • The ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma
  • Must successfully pass Patient Care Orientation.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Healthcare experience preferred.
